We we're delighted to host this celebration event for the online exhibition Acts of Air: Reshaping the urban sonic, welcoming the following acclaimed researchers and curators of urban sound projects to share their work:
The event was introduced by Lisa Hall curator of Acts of Air: reshaping the urban sonic and Cathy Lane Director of CRiSAP and Professor of Sound Arts. In the last year CRiSAP's online exhibition Acts of Air: Reshaping the urban sonic had over 1000 visitors and the artworks were enacted repeatedly by participating audiences. To celebrate and reflect on this we were pleased to invite these curators, directors and researchers of long-standing urban sound and arts projects from around the world to discuss the themes that drive their own work and the changing considerations of urban sounding. While each of their projects have different focuses (environmental, architectural, social etc.), formats (residencies, interventions, exhibitions and academic papers etc.) and sites (Valparaiso, Lisbon, Bonn, Slemani and others around the world), considered together they offer a unique survey of urban sonic activity and highlight the multiplicity of relationships with sound in urban spaces. Together we will also reflect upon Acts of Air: Reshaping the urban sonic through the 'traces' shared by our participating international audiences, and consider how these enactments have added to the exploration of urban sonic conditions. Acts of Air: Reshaping the urban sonic is part of CRiSAP's Unearthed: A festival of listening and environment, an ongoing series of events inviting both serious and more playful interrogations of current sound and listening practices and how they might help us reconsider our evolving relationships with other species, the built environment, truth and each other. |
