Snippets of radio transmissions during times of social distancing – a compilation of CQ calls between amateurs, international stations, met reports, naval communications and continuous wave code.
Shortwave Collective's first collaborative sound piece is the result of an experiment in true exquisite corpse form: Shortwave Collective members captured intriguing sounds, responding to one another's selections to create an audio snapshot sampling the global radio spectrum. A collaborative approach to audio production, valuing dialogue and exchange, testing new ideas in the creative use of radio. Shortwave Collective is an international, feminist artist group established in May 2020, interested in the creative use of radio. We meet regularly to discuss feminist approaches to amateur radio and the radio spectrum as artistic material, sharing resources, considering DIY approaches and inclusive structures. Shortwave Collective are: Alyssa Moxley, Brigitte Hart, Franchesca Casauay, Georgia Muenster, Hannah Kemp-Welch, Lisa Hall, Sally Applin and Sasha Engelmann. |
